The Kano State Government has ordered the demolition of buildings allegedly constructed on government-owned land in the state during the lifetime of the previous administration.
Equipment were mobilised to some of the affected locations in the dead hours of Friday where the bulldozing took place. Footage of the demolition exercise can be seen here.
The magnificent structures demolished were located in the Hajj Camp and Kano Race Course (Filin Sukuwa) areas of the state.

Hafiz Idris, a resident of the state, told ringroad.com.ng search engine that some of the affected structures were built on places originally designed for recreational and sporting activities.

“The new government claimed that the land was illegally sold while some of the structures were built on places that are for leisure and sporting activities. Hence, the need to restore them to their original purposes,” Idris said.
Prior to assuming office, Abba Yusuf, the state governor, had accused the Abdullahi Ganduje-led administration of handing out or selling government properties to private citizens without transparency.
He then warned investors to desist from expending their resources developing structures on places belonging to the state.
